Effective July 27, 2026
Privacy Policy.
A plain-language explanation of what CrabPretzels.com collects and why.
Information you choose to provide
Restaurant suggestions may include your email address, restaurant details, a menu link, and notes. Contact messages may include your name, email address, organization, role, topic, and message. This information is stored so the site owner can review your submission or respond to you. It is not displayed publicly unless you separately authorize publication.
Ratings and comments
A rating requires an email address to reduce duplicate voting. For rating purposes, the address is converted into a one-way code; the original address is not stored with the public rating. Your score and optional comment may be displayed publicly. If you separately select the newsletter option, the email address itself is stored in the private subscriber list.
Audience analytics
The site records the page visited, time of the visit, and the hostname of a referring website when available. A random browser identifier is converted into a one-way code to estimate unique visitors. The analytics system does not intentionally store visitor names, email addresses, raw browser identifiers, or full referring URLs.
Cookies and local storage
The public site uses local browser storage for its anonymous analytics identifier. The private owner dashboard uses a secure, HTTP-only login cookie. Essential security records may include a one-way code derived from network and browser information so public forms can be rate-limited.
How information is used
Information is used to operate the directory, moderate ratings, verify restaurant tips, reply to messages, understand site traffic, prevent abuse, and—only when you opt in—send CrabPretzels.com updates. Personal information is not sold.
Service providers and retention
Hosting, database, security, and email providers may process information solely to provide their services. Records are retained while reasonably useful for operating the site, resolving disputes, maintaining award integrity, or meeting legal obligations. Older records may be removed or anonymized.
Your choices
You may ask to correct or delete a contact message, submission, subscriber address, or other personal information by using the contact form. Any future marketing email will include an unsubscribe method.
Children
CrabPretzels.com is a general-audience food and restaurant guide and is not directed to children under 13. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site’s features change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are made.
